Well here it is the last "summer" weekend for this year. The air is cooler, it is getting darker earlier and fall is just around the corner here in Colorado. We usually have a wonderful fall season. Here is one of our latest quilt designs. I restored a book that was illustrated by Maud Humphrey. She was the mother of Humphrey Bogart. This book, published in 1898, is titled "Baby's Record." This is our new Oz. We adopted him from Pet Smart's Rescue. He was found near Spanish Fork, and he had been shot. He is a real sweetheart! We are taking a beginning Obedience class as Pet Smart. Oz is way quicker than I am at learning - but he is patient with me.

We just finished this quilt using illustrations from a picture book by Mabel Lucie Attwells. I made the blocks from her illustrations. Claudia Plett in Oklahoma pieced it together (http://www.claudiasquiltshoppe.com) and Ellen Peterson here in Grand Junction machine quilted it (http://www.quilterscornergj.com). I am so pleased with how it turned out!

This is the last of this set that I am doing using Frances Hunter illustrations. This one is titled, "Fiddlesticks and I are sure that Santa is near." This is a new size for us, 9x12 and we used C. Jenkins fabric. We found the fabric worked very well and we were able to easily quilt on it. Kimberly

I can't believe that it is almost the end of February! As always I am working on a new design from old illustrations. I will be listing on my site next a series of designs from a book by Maud Humphrey called Babes of the Year, published in 1888. This series is called Calendar Girls. I used C. Jenkins fabric. It is machine or hand quiltable.

The new year is here. I have been working on restoring old photographs. I am taking photos from our family albums and with the help of Photoshop reinventing them. I am thrilled with the results. They will be great printed on fabric or paper. Here are some samples.

Two days until Christmas. We have had alot of snow. Here are pictures of our dear Scottie, Googie in his fleece coat coming in the house, Meu, our much wiser cat that stays inside where it is warm, and a picture of our back yard with all the snow. Merry Christmas!

C. Jenkins fabric used with the Vintage Illustration Blocks

I have been asked to try to find a fabric that can be quilted on, either by hand or machine. The June Taylor fabric gives wonderful clarity in its images, but is best used with just a shadowbox quilting, around the image. I have printed some of the PeekaBoo Orientals on C. Jenkins 100% cotton fabric. It is lighter weight and works fine if you want to machine or hand quilt on it. I will have them ready for sale on my site (hopefully) in January. I have attached the sample pictures showing the machine quilting. Happy Stitching! Kimberly

In going through lots of vintage and antique children's stories, I have also come across many wonderful old cookbooks. One thing that seems to go with sewing, quilting and crafts is delicious eating. I will try to post recipes from books. The first set comes from a book, A World of Good Eating by Phillips Publishers, Inc. in 1951. It introduction says, "Tested in the kitchen of a New England Housewife and published for the Enjoyment of Many American Families." I chose the Scandinavian recipes first. We are starting the Christmas Holiday Season and one thing our family always had this time of year were lots of Scandinavian treats. So, here goes with what I scanned. I hope that you will enjoy the recipes and will write back and tell me what you think of them. I also could not resist adding the illustrations they are wonderful too. My best, Kimberly
